You have been in a car accident. What do you do? Even the best drivers get into accidents.
To help you, here are step-by-step instructions on what you should do when you get into an auto collision accident:
STEP 1

Stop. If your vehicle is involved in an accident and you do not stop, you may be subject to criminal prosecution.
STEP 2

Call the police if anyone is injured, if the total damage to all the vehicles involved appears to be more than $2,000, or you suspect any driver is guilty of a Criminal Code offence (e.g., DUI). Follow instructions from the emergency operator. Do not move injured individuals — you may worsen their injuries.
If no one is injured and damage appears under $2,000, call a Collision Reporting Centre within 24 hours. These centres help report accidents, take police reports, and photograph damage.
Call Rexdale Hyundai's 24/7 body shop line at (416) 402-6782 for help locating the nearest Collision Reporting Centre.
STEP 3

If it’s safe, exit your car. Take photos of the scene using your phone or camera.
STEP 4

Record as much information as possible. Use the Accident Worksheet from your new car package to document details. You can also record video/audio using your phone. Collect insurance info (company, policy number), driver’s license, and ownership details.
STEP 6

Call your insurance company ASAP. Provide accident details and ask for next steps.
For help filing a claim, contact Rexdale Hyundai’s body shop at (416) 402-6782 — available 24/7. Our collision advisor will guide you through the process.
